BAMFORD - House extension
Watfords of Wombwell extended this peak district bungalow for a monopolies and mergers expert who had run out of space and wanted an extension as well as major improvements to the existing building

A flat roofed garage and collection of sheds were in a poor state and needed to be removed. The lower floor gives garage space and a much needed utility room and storage, the upper floor is a large study with an oak-trussed roof.

 

The new and the old are connected with an oak-framed, glazed link which becomes the heart of the house, connecting the front drive to the rear orchard. The extension has a gritstone gable to the East together with horizontal larch boarding to the other elevations that will naturally weather in time. The render on the existing house has been painted the same colour as the stone cladding. The link is mainly glazed with deep oak posts and has a patinated copper roof.
